Attention Female Athletes - Breast Reduction Can Improve Your Game

Breast surgery procedures are not only for cosmetic reasons. One of the most popular groups of women to undergo breast reconstruction is athletes. With the 2016 Rio Olympics currently taking place, women's sports is on everyone's minds. We're enjoying watching women athletes compete in gymnastics, tennis, track and field, basketball, soccer, volleyball and so many other exciting sports.

The size of the breasts is, unfortunately, a way that many women experience an additional challenge in competition. Additionally, having large breasts can lead to back aches or even worse.

Many women choose to get breast reductions with cosmetic surgery so they can run faster and perform better on the playing field. Some female athletes have experienced significant performance enhancement thanks to their breast reduction plastic surgery, including female soccer players, swimmers, basketball players and marathon runners. For many women, breast reduction surgery helps their body look better proportioned.

An added benefit for these female athletes is that they gain more self confidence and no longer have to worry about wearing two sports bras or having metal contraptions keep their breasts in place.

For women who don’t want the surgical approach to breast reduction surgery, nonsurgical breast reduction is also available. For a free consultation about breast reduction procedures visit our website at www.starplasticsurgery.net today.

3D Cosmetic Surgery Procedure Video Library

In an effort to educate our patients at Star Plastic Surgery and to surpass the competition, we are excited to announce that we have integrated a 3D Plastic Surgery Library directly into our website. Viewable on both desktops, notebook computers and tablets, you'll now be able to watch a fully animated 3D video of each procedure offered at Star Plastic Surgery by our team of board certified plastic surgeons.

Each 3D medical animation is in a separate category for that part of the body: body, breast, face or skin treatment. We will be continuously updating these animation videos as well. Why have we invested in this state-of-the-art video library? For patient education. We want our patients to be as well informed as possible before selecting the right cosmetic surgery procedure.

Our new Plastic Surgery Animation Library is endorsed by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. and has been medical board reviewed meaning that all animations are reviewed by a medical board of plastic surgeons for accuracy and authenticity. Additionally, our own Dr. Reisin has reviewed each video to ensure that it accurately represents our procedures and processes.

We hope you will appreciate Star Plastic Surgery's new 3D Animation Library of Cosmetic Surgery Procedures and share the link with your friends as well. View the full library here.

Can You Still Breastfeed with Implants?

Many women have concerns about getting breast implants at an early age because they eventually want to breast feed once they have children. It is very important to know all of the facts surrounding any type of surgery. An overwhelming amount of women who have breast implants can breastfeed whether they decide to get silicone or saline implants.

star plastic surgery michigan breast implants

Over the year’s test have been conducted that have confirmed that there are no risks involving leaking in saline or silicone implants that result in contamination of breast milk. The key here is to have the least amount of pressure on a woman’s mammary gland as possible. The less pressure on the implant, the better the chances are for producing milk. It’s important to feel great about the way you look and even more so to feel comfortable with the procedure that you’re having done.

At Star Plastic Surgery, we assure that when you come to us for a breast augmentation consultation, you will be in the care of an experienced, dedicated, board-certified plastic surgeon.

During your initial consultation, you will be advised on all of your breast implant options and we will help you find the solution that helps you look and feel as beautiful as you deserve to be. Please contact us today on our website or call 248-735-3800.

Get Rid of Your Man Boob Problem this Father's Day

The weather is finally warming up in Michigan and that means swimming pools will open soon for Memorial Day weekend. Many families will be heading to the beach too. For so many women, this time of year means getting their bodies "bikini-ready" or just being prepared to put on a swim suit or shorts.

For many men, there can be some anxiety about just taking off their shirts in the summer time. They feel subconscious about their chests. Some men have what are commonly known as "Man Boobs." The medical name for this is Gynecomastia. What are Man Boobs?

Steven Tyler of Aerosmith has Man Boobs

Man Boobs are due to the excess growth of breast tissue, but it's really just excess fat, which has been collecting in abnormal amounts. This can be a source of embarrassment for men and even wearing a t-shirt or Lycra shirt at the pool or beach doesn’t help the anxiety that many men feel when they suffer from Man Boobs.

Men: Treat yourself this Father's Day to a male breast reduction surgery at Star Plastic Surgery. You'll begin to feel more confident about your overall appearance and will no longer get all anxious and concerned about taking off your shirt in public. If you aren't going to do this yourself, let the woman in your life make this your perfect Father’s Day gift this year.

Learn more about our male breast reduction surgery at Star Plastic Surgery's website or call for a free consultation today: (248) 735-3800.

Experts Are Finding New Ways to Fight Bacteria

Doctors have been fighting bacteria with antibiotics for years and for the most part they have had great success. In recent years though, these diseases have been growing resistant to traditional medicine. In the 1940's, Western doctors stopped using phage because of the advent of antibiotics.

Experts have turned to phages once again instead of modern medicine. If you don’t know, phage therapy comes in different shapes and sizes and is the therapeutic use of bacteriophages to treat pathogenic bacterial infections. To read more about this please visit this link. The White House last year stated that phage therapy will be one of the options when combating drug-resistant bacteria.

At Star Plastic Surgery, we are aware of all medical options on the market and currently we are not utilizing phages of any kind. However, we do take pride in keeping up with ever changing medical breakthroughs and the latest technology. Our board certified plastic surgeons want you to feel great about the way you look and strive to deliver safe and outstanding results.

How to Recover From Your Plastic Surgery

Everyone always worries about the recovery time after getting major surgery done, which is normal and you should think ahead. The best way to prepare yourself is to come into surgery as a healthy patient from the start. Being a non-smoker, eating healthy, exercising, and being in mental and physical shape in general are all ways that you can be the ideal patient before plastic surgery.

Common practices for speeding up the recovery process is eating lots of fruits and vegetables, taking supplements and vitamins. Make sure to tell your physician about whatever you may want to take so they can advise you accordingly. Prior to surgery, you will want to eliminate alcohol and reduce the caffeine and processed foods in your diet. This is also recommended during post-surgery as well.

To learn more about plastic surgery, schedule a free consultation with us and our doctors can guide you through the whole pre-op and post-op process. Please call 248-735-3800 or visit www.starplasticsurgery.net/contact-us

Don’t Be Another Statistic, Do It Right The First Time

There has been a rise in recent years of people traveling to get major surgeries performed. When it comes to a large medical expense, we all try and take shortcuts to find a cheaper price. Sometimes this includes going to a different country which is often known as “medical tourism”.

Every major surgery has risks involved but by going to a different country your risk or something going wrong increases. When you have medical work done in a different country you have no legal protection and chances are you will not be dealing with a board-certified plastic surgeon or who knows, maybe it’s not even a real doctor.

Don’t get caught up with price or you could be another statistic like this common headline, “19 Americans infected during plastic surgery trips” (NBC News). Of course this is just one example of something going wrong overseas with surgery, but even just one example is a good reason to be cautious.  Bargain surgery may not really be a bargain. This is your body and I doubt you want to risk a tummy tuck or nose job going wrong just to save a few dollars. Additional cost for revision surgeries and complications may cost you whatever the difference was if you had it done in the United States.

At Star Plastic Surgery, in Novi, Michigan, our board-certified plastic surgeons have performed over15, 000 cosmetic procedures. To schedule your free consultation here in the United States, please call 248-735-3800 or visit us at www.starplasticsurgery.net/contact-us.

Plastic Surgery Demands Increase This Holiday Season

The holidays can bring on all sorts of stress. Seeing family members, holiday parties, or traveling tend to cause us to think about our appearance more than normally would.

Another reason for undergoing such procedures during the holiday season, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery says: It's the only time of the year when some patients can take a week or two off from job or school for post-surgical healing.

Nose jobs, eyelid surgery, Botox, and facelifts are all popular procedures during the holidays. From Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve, plastic surgeries spike about 25% because everyone wants to look their best for the holidays.

A huge trend that has started over the past few years has been the notion of gifting plastic surgery to others. It doesn’t have to be some extravagant surgery, it can be just a simple Botox or facial procedure. There has been an increase in recent years of people shopping for facial rejuvenation treatments for family and friends.

Speaking of friends and family, all of us at Star Plastic Surgery would like to wish you and your family Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year.

HOUR Detroit Top Doc Ellen Ozolins Customer Review

"Total Celeb-level Care"

The name says it all. From the moment I walked in the door for a consultation, I was given incredible care and service. The staff is polite and courteous and they remember your name as though you've been going there for years. I had a "Mommy Makeover" (breast lift-no implants & full tummy tuck) by Dr. Ozolins in July 2015. She's absolutely fantastic! I am not a fan of any type of surgical procedures in general and was very timid about even seeking a consultation but she made me feel comfortable and confident right away. I'm 12 weeks post-op and super happy with my results. I know I could've gone somewhere closer to my home for a cut-rate deal but I don't for one second regret my choice to have my surgery through Star. I think you get what you pay for and my procedure was worth every penny. Dr. Ozolins does impeccable work. Many surgeons don't want to do a breast lift without implants but Dr. O is such a pro, she uses a technique that provides the lift that holds up without implants. The care at Star is top notch- they don't simply cut and run like some "cosmetic" surgery clinics. If you call they are happy to be see you, even if it's just for small concerns that end up being nothing. I might be a bit of a drama queen and I called them multiple times with questions and the staff was always happy to listen and give advice or have me come in. They see you regularly after your surgery for months and provide care until you are fully healed. I really cannot say enough about the skill, care and professionalism of the surgeons, nurses and all the staff. I would recommend Star, and particularly Dr. Ozolins to ANYONE & everyone considering plastic surgery or non-surgical procedures. I feel I got my money's worth and more.

New Tanning Trend Can Cause Serious Skin Damage

**WARNING IF YOU GO IN THE SUN!!**

Some sunbathers are searching for more than a golden glow in a new social media trend that's concerning dermatologists, cancer experts and other clinicians. It is called "sunburn art", which is when people apply sunscreen to a certain area in order to create a design. This has become a popular trend on social media and I believe people should know how unhealthy it is to do this to their skin.

For many years, health experts have warned that UV radiation, can be damaging to the skin, leading to burns, wrinkles, dark spots, leathery skin and cancer. To read more about this trend and the harmful effects, go check out the article here

This hasn’t become an issue in the Metro Detroit area yet, but summer is starting to heat up and this trend is sure to make its way to our beaches. Cosmetic surgeons often speak with patients about the issue of aging. Damage to your skin over many years can increase this and require more cosmetic surgery. A Mommy Makeover and Facial Plastic Surgery can only do so much, so make sure to take care of your skin!

The Medical Future: Transplanting Heads

I read this article about Dr. Sergio Canavero  and his plan to put the head of Valery Spiridonov, a Russian with a muscle-wasting disease, on the body of a newly dead donor. I always find articles about the advancement in medicine very interesting and I love sharing this news with all of our readers. Canavero claimed to of solved the problems his hero, Dr. Robert White, when he got a monkey’s head to live (briefly) on a new body (that couldn’t move). Canavero now says he and a team of 150 will be able to swap out an entire human body by 2017. To read more about this story, please visit this online article

Even though it seems like science fiction, the progress of medicine is developing at an exponential rate. This is evident in the new technologies coming out in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. 3D imaging is allowing us to have the ability to create an actual mold for the patient. We are now seeing great leaps in the development of bio-compatible implants for cosmetic refinement and integration. The development of stem cell research is enabling physicians to harvest and amplify our own tissues. The future may bring procedures and results that we can't even imagine today.

You Can Return High-Heels, Not Cosmetic Surgery

High-heel injuries are common among women, more than 3,294 emergency department visits stemming from high-heel-related injuries from 2002 and 2012 recorded in the Consumer Product Safety Commission's surveillance system.
Shoes may be returned or repaired, but what cannot be returned is botched cosmetic surgery.

The first step in your consultation, is a review of the doctor’s credentials, their background, hospital privileges, years of practice, review before and after photos of the surgeries you’re interested and answer all your questions. At that time all cost and fees will be established and your surgery will be scheduled.

If the Shoe Fits, Go with a Star Plastic Surgery Surgeon

Many women are very particular when it comes to selecting a pair of shoes. The rate of injuries for U.S. women associated with wearing high heels form 2002 to 2012 was 7.32 per 100,000, with most injuries consisting of sprains and strains to the foot and ankle (Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery). Like selecting a pair of shoes, you must also be selective when it comes to who your physician is.

Many physicians perform numerous surgeries throughout the year but it takes a real master to specialize in one specific field. Something you may not know is that many physicians who perform cosmetic surgery are not actually plastic surgeons.

The American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) is the only board approved by the National Board of Medical Specialties. Members are certified based on the highest standards and have done more than just take a weekend course in cosmetic surgery. Before choosing your surgeon, review the doctors overall experience and training, and most importantly their board-certifications as well as hospital privileges to perform the surgery that you are considering.

The plastic surgeons at Star Plastic Surgery have completed the necessary residencies and fellowships in order to become the experts that they are. Cosmetic Surgery is all we do and our physicians pride themselves on concentrating on the individual they are working with. Before you decide to get plastic surgery done, please make sure that you are working with an ABPS board-certified plastic surgeon. Having the training and expertise to create the best possible outcome is more than just throwing on a mask and a white coat.

Please visit our website for a free consultation from one of our board-certified plastic surgeons: http://www.starplasticsurgery.net/contact-us or call us at 248-735-3800
