How to Get Natural Beauty From Foods

strawberry natural beauty from foods"Summer can be a lot easier for healthy eating, it lends itself to lighter foods," says dietitian and spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association Alana Macdonald. "In the winter months we tend to eat more potatoes and bread, relying more on stodgy comfort food when it's cold and rainy outside."

These are the foods that experts recommend are good to eat this summer:
natural beauty from foods summer 1.  . Strawberries – Jammed packed with vitamin C, strawberries have seeds on them which are a good source of fiber. This helps to prevent heart and cardiovascular problems that may occur.
2.    Tomatoes – Rich in beta-carotene and lycopene, which may reduce the effects of UV damage from the sun.
3.    Salad Leaves –In order to maintain healthy skin, we need vitamin A which fresh leaves produce. Salad leaves are a source of carotene, which is needed by the body in order to make vitamin A.
4.    Vegetables – Everyone knows that this is one of the healthiest choices but what some of you don’t know is that summer vegetables often have less carbohydrates and calories than typical winter vegetables such as carrots and potatoes.
5.    Cold Summer Salads – These summer salads should be made up of herbs, grains, and pulses. Wholegrains are rich in Vitamin B which boosts skin cell growth. This will help with fighting off any sun damage that may occur during these summer months.
6.    BBQ! – Everyone loves a good BBQ in the summertime and there’s no better way than firing up the old grill and tossing on some chicken with vegetables on a skewer. Subconsciously we tend to eat lighter in the spring and summer months to get into “bikini shape”.

If you are looking to improve your health and even alter your appearance, cosmetic surgery may be the way to go. For example, liposuction surgery can remove inches from your frame and provide a slimmer, more attractive physique, but it alone cannot help you maintain a healthy weight. The board certified plastic surgeons at Star Plastic Surgery can work with you to help determine what steps will be necessary after your procedure to help you lose weight and maximize the results of your liposuction surgery.

People in Their 20’s Having Plastic Surgery

When people think of plastic surgery, they don’t normally think young, healthy people. Often, plastic surgery is associated with people in their 50s and 60s who want to look younger.

Now a day’s however, doctors are starting to see a growing number of people in their 20’s are getting plastic surgery. The millennials are paying more attention to their appearance and the sometimes visible wrinkles in their forehead. Women’s Happiness Doesn’t Affect Mortality

Many studies have been conducted that claim to link happiness and living a longer life together. “A study published on Wednesday in The Lancet, following one million middle-aged women in Britain for 10 years, finds that the widely held view that happiness enhances health and longevity is unfounded. Happiness and related measures of well-being do not appear to have any direct effect on mortality, the researchers concluded,” (NY TIMES).

“The results come from the so-called Million Women Study, which recruited women ages 50 to 69 from 1996 to 2001, and tracked them with questionnaires and official records of deaths and hospital admissions. The questionnaires asked how often the women felt happy, in control, relaxed and stressed, and also instructed them to rate their health and list ailments like high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, arthritis and depression or anxiety,” (NY TIMES).

The good news is that you can be as grumpy as you want and you can still live a full long life! Sadly though, making those grumpy faces can affect your face and create wrinkles where you may not want them. This is when you will want to call us for a few Botox shots or possibly other skincare treatments. Just because you want to walk around grumpy all day doesn’t mean you have to appear that way.
To get a head start on ridding of those wrinkles, schedule a free confidential consultation with us by calling 248-735-3800 or www.starplasticsurgery.net/contact-us

How to Recover From Your Plastic Surgery

Everyone always worries about the recovery time after getting major surgery done, which is normal and you should think ahead. The best way to prepare yourself is to come into surgery as a healthy patient from the start. Being a non-smoker, eating healthy, exercising, and being in mental and physical shape in general are all ways that you can be the ideal patient before plastic surgery.

Common practices for speeding up the recovery process is eating lots of fruits and vegetables, taking supplements and vitamins. Make sure to tell your physician about whatever you may want to take so they can advise you accordingly. Prior to surgery, you will want to eliminate alcohol and reduce the caffeine and processed foods in your diet. This is also recommended during post-surgery as well.

Artificial Sweeteners vs. Sugar

With the holidays coming up, the concern of sugar and sweeteners and how they affect us become more relevant. Holiday treats are a common occurrence and the harmful effects are always in the back of our mind soon after consumption.

An analysis of randomized controlled trials, published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2013, found that sugar-sweetened beverages alone cause body weight to go up in adults. In comparison, an analysis of randomized controlled trials of artificial sweeteners published in the same journal found that their use led to lower body weight and less overall fat.

The facts are there and the first step is to limit the amount of sugar consumed per week in order to prevent any health issues caused by an abundance of sugar. Everyone always says “feel great about the way you look”, and the first step in feeling that way is to just be healthy. If that isn’t doing the trick, there is always the option of plastic surgery on those areas you feel insecure about. Visit our website at www.starplasticsurgery.net to learn more.

New Tanning Trend Can Cause Serious Skin Damage

**WARNING IF YOU GO IN THE SUN!!**

Some sunbathers are searching for more than a golden glow in a new social media trend that's concerning dermatologists, cancer experts and other clinicians. It is called "sunburn art", which is when people apply sunscreen to a certain area in order to create a design. This has become a popular trend on social media and I believe people should know how unhealthy it is to do this to their skin.

For many years, health experts have warned that UV radiation, can be damaging to the skin, leading to burns, wrinkles, dark spots, leathery skin and cancer. To read more about this trend and the harmful effects, go check out the article here

This hasn’t become an issue in the Metro Detroit area yet, but summer is starting to heat up and this trend is sure to make its way to our beaches. Cosmetic surgeons often speak with patients about the issue of aging. Damage to your skin over many years can increase this and require more cosmetic surgery. A Mommy Makeover and Facial Plastic Surgery can only do so much, so make sure to take care of your skin!
