How Old Will You Look in the Future?

The “aging suit” is the newest in virtual reality technology, which allows you to get the full simulation of the growing old effect. The suit is called Genworth R70i Aging Experience, was created by a 62-year-old man named Bran Ferran who is the former president of research and development for Disney. This division created all of the “magic” at the theme parks and studios.

This special suit has bolts and hinges at every joint to give the aging effect more of a real life experience. The suit itself looks like some sort of superhero costume while “the helmet simulates impaired vision, hearing loss, and cognitive deterioration,” (Lidz,2015). While giving you insights on what it is to be old, you may start to reflect on how you actually look as well.

In today’s world, you may not be able to prevent feeling old, but you can control the aging process with plastic surgery. The board-certified plastic surgeons at Star Plastic Surgery offer a wide range of body contouring procedures for every shape and size body, breast enhancements, as well as facial procedures. The High Price of Beauty

Several women revealed their annual costs of spending on what it takes to stay beautiful. Whether it is layers of makeup or extreme hair styles, women go to extreme lengths to better their appearance, no matter what the cost is. Prices tend to vary but getting a blowout hair cut can cost $40, a haircut can cost $125, and hair color can cost $215. Imagine paying this consistently throughout a lifetime with constant maintenance.

On the other side of the fence, the option for cosmetic surgery is available, which is long lasting and cost effective compared to most beauty enhancements such as makeup and other cosmetics. You can get procedures such as facelifts, liposuction, Botox, and fat transfers. You want to make sure whoever is performing these procedures is a board-certified plastic surgeon so you know you’ll be getting safe and outstanding results.

At Star Plastic Surgery, everything is customized to the individual who is being seen by our consultants and doctors. Please call 248-735-3800 or visit www.starplasticsurgery.net to schedule your free consultation with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons.

You May Want to Get Less Mammograms

The American Cancer Society recently issued new guidelines that women should get less mammograms done. “Women with an average risk of breast cancer start having mammograms at 45 and continue once a year until 54, then every other year for as long as they are healthy and likely to live another 10 years. The organization also said it no longer recommended clinical breast exams, in which doctors or nurses feel for lumps, for women of any age who have had no symptoms of abnormality in the breast,” (Grady,2015).
Specialist are working hard to find better screening test but this make take time as the area is rapidly changing. Radiologists hope to have more knowledge in the upcoming years that will allow them to be more personalized with their approaches. An important thing to remember with these screenings is that you feel comfortable and at ease. The patient’s feelings should be kept in mind by the doctors involved with any screening or medical testing.
The philosophy of Star Plastic Surgery is focused on the patient. We work one-on-one with you, both pre- and post-operatively, to help you reach your goals. Experts Are Finding New Ways to Fight Bacteria

Doctors have been fighting bacteria with antibiotics for years and for the most part they have had great success. In recent years though, these diseases have been growing resistant to traditional medicine. In the 1940's, Western doctors stopped using phage because of the advent of antibiotics.

Experts have turned to phages once again instead of modern medicine. If you don’t know, phage therapy comes in different shapes and sizes and is the therapeutic use of bacteriophages to treat pathogenic bacterial infections. To read more about this please visit this link. The White House last year stated that phage therapy will be one of the options when combating drug-resistant bacteria.

At Star Plastic Surgery, we are aware of all medical options on the market and currently we are not utilizing phages of any kind. However, we do take pride in keeping up with ever changing medical breakthroughs and the latest technology. Our board certified plastic surgeons want you to feel great about the way you look and strive to deliver safe and outstanding results.

Women’s Happiness Doesn’t Affect Mortality

Many studies have been conducted that claim to link happiness and living a longer life together. “A study published on Wednesday in The Lancet, following one million middle-aged women in Britain for 10 years, finds that the widely held view that happiness enhances health and longevity is unfounded. Happiness and related measures of well-being do not appear to have any direct effect on mortality, the researchers concluded,” (NY TIMES).

“The results come from the so-called Million Women Study, which recruited women ages 50 to 69 from 1996 to 2001, and tracked them with questionnaires and official records of deaths and hospital admissions. The questionnaires asked how often the women felt happy, in control, relaxed and stressed, and also instructed them to rate their health and list ailments like high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, arthritis and depression or anxiety,” (NY TIMES).

The good news is that you can be as grumpy as you want and you can still live a full long life! Sadly though, making those grumpy faces can affect your face and create wrinkles where you may not want them. This is when you will want to call us for a few Botox shots or possibly other skincare treatments. Just because you want to walk around grumpy all day doesn’t mean you have to appear that way.
To get a head start on ridding of those wrinkles, schedule a free confidential consultation with us by calling 248-735-3800 or www.starplasticsurgery.net/contact-us

How to Recover From Your Plastic Surgery

Everyone always worries about the recovery time after getting major surgery done, which is normal and you should think ahead. The best way to prepare yourself is to come into surgery as a healthy patient from the start. Being a non-smoker, eating healthy, exercising, and being in mental and physical shape in general are all ways that you can be the ideal patient before plastic surgery.

Common practices for speeding up the recovery process is eating lots of fruits and vegetables, taking supplements and vitamins. Make sure to tell your physician about whatever you may want to take so they can advise you accordingly. Prior to surgery, you will want to eliminate alcohol and reduce the caffeine and processed foods in your diet. This is also recommended during post-surgery as well.

To learn more about plastic surgery, schedule a free consultation with us and our doctors can guide you through the whole pre-op and post-op process. Please call 248-735-3800 or visit www.starplasticsurgery.net/contact-us

Pigeons that Identify Breast Cancer

Most of you know the pigeon as that pesky bird that sits in the streets with its pack of buddies in large cities. Some of you might not know that this well-known bird has a long history of working with humans to accomplish different tasks. Pigeons can detect emotions in people’s faces and even select certain letters in the alphabet.

In today’s world however, the pigeon has evolved to much more important tasks. They are surprisingly very good at detecting cancer. After being shown images of human breast cells, they were able to spot malignancies (tumor). Now this doesn’t mean that the birds will be performing surgeries anytime soon, but it does prove the intelligence of the pigeon. While spotting tumors on images of breast cells is one thing, pigeons could be used for further medical advancements in the future whether it is cosmetic or traditional surgery.

Star Plastic Surgery in Novi, Michigan is up to date with all of the advancements in technology in the medical world and our board-certified plastic surgeons are ready to discuss any questions you may have about cosmetic surgery.

Don’t Be Another Statistic, Do It Right The First Time

There has been a rise in recent years of people traveling to get major surgeries performed. When it comes to a large medical expense, we all try and take shortcuts to find a cheaper price. Sometimes this includes going to a different country which is often known as “medical tourism”.

Every major surgery has risks involved but by going to a different country your risk or something going wrong increases. When you have medical work done in a different country you have no legal protection and chances are you will not be dealing with a board-certified plastic surgeon or who knows, maybe it’s not even a real doctor.

Don’t get caught up with price or you could be another statistic like this common headline, “19 Americans infected during plastic surgery trips” (NBC News). Of course this is just one example of something going wrong overseas with surgery, but even just one example is a good reason to be cautious.  Bargain surgery may not really be a bargain. This is your body and I doubt you want to risk a tummy tuck or nose job going wrong just to save a few dollars. Additional cost for revision surgeries and complications may cost you whatever the difference was if you had it done in the United States.

At Star Plastic Surgery, in Novi, Michigan, our board-certified plastic surgeons have performed over15, 000 cosmetic procedures. To schedule your free consultation here in the United States, please call 248-735-3800 or visit us at www.starplasticsurgery.net/contact-us.
