Get That Flat Belly You've Dreamed Of

Women want a flat bellies of course. Who wouldn't? If you look at the cover of any magazine or see Hollywood celebrities, you know that they all have flat bellies. Even if it's not a "six pack," there isn't that flabbiness to it.

However, if you're like the vast majority of American adults, you are carrying more belly fat than you want in the abdominal region. Nobody wants that spare tire.

Many women, especially when a photo is being taken of them, hold their tummy in. They do this mostly unconsciously resulting in the appearance of a flatter abdomen. The reason most women hold their stomach in will never be identified other than this feat can be accomplished unconsciously to some degree without expending energy. Many women have done this so long that they don’t even realize they are doing this. Those of us who don’t hold our abdomen in will never think another human can achieve this! Why? Because it requires too much energy and effort!

Just because summer is winding down and you won't be wearing revealing bathing suits or tight shirts for a while, that doesn't mean it isn't time to get a tummy tuck from Dr. Reisin or another board certified cosmetic surgeon at Star Plastic Surgery. Call us today for a risk free consultation or visit www.starplasticsurgery.net.

Attention Female Athletes - Breast Reduction Can Improve Your Game

Breast surgery procedures are not only for cosmetic reasons. One of the most popular groups of women to undergo breast reconstruction is athletes. With the 2016 Rio Olympics currently taking place, women's sports is on everyone's minds. We're enjoying watching women athletes compete in gymnastics, tennis, track and field, basketball, soccer, volleyball and so many other exciting sports.

The size of the breasts is, unfortunately, a way that many women experience an additional challenge in competition. Additionally, having large breasts can lead to back aches or even worse.

Many women choose to get breast reductions with cosmetic surgery so they can run faster and perform better on the playing field. Some female athletes have experienced significant performance enhancement thanks to their breast reduction plastic surgery, including female soccer players, swimmers, basketball players and marathon runners. For many women, breast reduction surgery helps their body look better proportioned.

An added benefit for these female athletes is that they gain more self confidence and no longer have to worry about wearing two sports bras or having metal contraptions keep their breasts in place.

For women who don’t want the surgical approach to breast reduction surgery, nonsurgical breast reduction is also available. For a free consultation about breast reduction procedures visit our website at www.starplasticsurgery.net today.

Can You Still Breastfeed with Implants?

Many women have concerns about getting breast implants at an early age because they eventually want to breast feed once they have children. It is very important to know all of the facts surrounding any type of surgery. An overwhelming amount of women who have breast implants can breastfeed whether they decide to get silicone or saline implants.

Over the year’s test have been conducted that have confirmed that there are no risks involving leaking in saline or silicone implants that result in contamination of breast milk. The key here is to have the least amount of pressure on a woman’s mammary gland as possible. The less pressure on the implant, the better the chances are for producing milk. It’s important to feel great about the way you look and even more so to feel comfortable with the procedure that you’re having done.

At Star Plastic Surgery, we assure that when you come to us for a breast augmentation consultation, you will be in the care of an experienced, dedicated, board-certified plastic surgeon.

During your initial consultation, you will be advised on all of your breast implant options and we will help you find the solution that helps you look and feel as beautiful as you deserve to be. Please contact us today on our website or call 248-735-3800.

You May Want to Get Less Mammograms

The American Cancer Society recently issued new guidelines that women should get less mammograms done. “Women with an average risk of breast cancer start having mammograms at 45 and continue once a year until 54, then every other year for as long as they are healthy and likely to live another 10 years. The organization also said it no longer recommended clinical breast exams, in which doctors or nurses feel for lumps, for women of any age who have had no symptoms of abnormality in the breast,” (Grady,2015).
Specialist are working hard to find better screening test but this make take time as the area is rapidly changing. Radiologists hope to have more knowledge in the upcoming years that will allow them to be more personalized with their approaches. An important thing to remember with these screenings is that you feel comfortable and at ease. The patient’s feelings should be kept in mind by the doctors involved with any screening or medical testing.
The philosophy of Star Plastic Surgery is focused on the patient. We work one-on-one with you, both pre- and post-operatively, to help you reach your goals. We do not have a one-size-fits-all mentality, and will customize your procedure to enhance your natural appearance, and to help restore the self-confidence you deserve. Women’s Happiness Doesn’t Affect Mortality

Many studies have been conducted that claim to link happiness and living a longer life together. “A study published on Wednesday in The Lancet, following one million middle-aged women in Britain for 10 years, finds that the widely held view that happiness enhances health and longevity is unfounded. Happiness and related measures of well-being do not appear to have any direct effect on mortality, the researchers concluded,” (NY TIMES).

“The results come from the so-called Million Women Study, which recruited women ages 50 to 69 from 1996 to 2001, and tracked them with questionnaires and official records of deaths and hospital admissions. The questionnaires asked how often the women felt happy, in control, relaxed and stressed, and also instructed them to rate their health and list ailments like high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, arthritis and depression or anxiety,” (NY TIMES).

The good news is that you can be as grumpy as you want and you can still live a full long life! Sadly though, making those grumpy faces can affect your face and create wrinkles where you may not want them. This is when you will want to call us for a few Botox shots or possibly other skincare treatments. Just because you want to walk around grumpy all day doesn’t mean you have to appear that way.
To get a head start on ridding of those wrinkles, schedule a free confidential consultation with us by calling 248-735-3800 or www.starplasticsurgery.net/contact-us

Is There a Difference Between Men and Women?

There has always been a debate about the differences between men and women. However, in recent years the focus has been on medications and the effects on men vs. women.

“We all go to doctors. And we do so with trust and blind faith that the test they are ordering and the medications they're prescribing are based upon evidence -evidence that's designed to help us. However, the reality is that that hasn't always been the case for everyone. What if I told you that the medical science discovered over the past century has been based on only half the population?” – Alyson McGregor from Ted Talks

Some of the notable facts from McGregor’s Ted Talk are:
  • ·         80% of drugs taken off the market were removed because of side effects on women.
  • ·         Every cell has a sex. Sex is DNA, gender is how someone presents themselves in society.
  • ·         Drugs approved and released to market have been tested only on male patients, leading to improper dosing and unacceptable side effects for women.

At Star Plastic Surgery, we offer a full range of cosmetic plastic surgery procedures. Men and women in the Detroit, Michigan area, as well as from around the world, have trusted our board-certified plastic surgeons for both surgical and nonsurgical procedures.

Look 10 to 15 Years Younger

As you age, your skin loses elasticity. Combined with lifestyle choices, stress, and sleeping habits, this can eventually lead to a puffy, baggy appearance around your eyes. In addition to making you look much older before your time, exhausted eyelids can impact vision, making it both an aesthetic and functional issue. Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, can restore a youthful, bright appearance to your eyes and restore vision diminished by droopy eyelids.

The board-certified plastic surgeons at Star Plastic Surgery understand how these issues can impact your self-esteem and lower your self-confidence. Using only proven surgical techniques, our Novi, Michigan eyelid surgeons can help you look and feel your absolute best.

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, gets rid of extra skin and fat from your upper and/or lower eyelids. During the free pre-surgical consultation, you will be examined and asked about your vision, tear production, and use of lenses. Factors that affect your surgery include age, skin type, ethnic background, and degree of vision obstruction. These are all important when it comes to the doctor figuring out exactly what you need.

For more information about blepharoplasty, please visit our website www.starplasticsurgery.net to schedule your free consultation.

You Can Return High-Heels, Not Cosmetic Surgery

High-heel injuries are common among women, more than 3,294 emergency department visits stemming from high-heel-related injuries from 2002 and 2012 recorded in the Consumer Product Safety Commission's surveillance system.
Shoes may be returned or repaired, but what cannot be returned is botched cosmetic surgery.

The first step in your consultation, is a review of the doctor’s credentials, their background, hospital privileges, years of practice, review before and after photos of the surgeries you’re interested and answer all your questions. At that time all cost and fees will be established and your surgery will be scheduled.

If the Shoe Fits, Go with a Star Plastic Surgery Surgeon

Many women are very particular when it comes to selecting a pair of shoes. The rate of injuries for U.S. women associated with wearing high heels form 2002 to 2012 was 7.32 per 100,000, with most injuries consisting of sprains and strains to the foot and ankle (Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery). Like selecting a pair of shoes, you must also be selective when it comes to who your physician is.

Many physicians perform numerous surgeries throughout the year but it takes a real master to specialize in one specific field. Something you may not know is that many physicians who perform cosmetic surgery are not actually plastic surgeons.

The American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) is the only board approved by the National Board of Medical Specialties. Members are certified based on the highest standards and have done more than just take a weekend course in cosmetic surgery. Before choosing your surgeon, review the doctors overall experience and training, and most importantly their board-certifications as well as hospital privileges to perform the surgery that you are considering.

The plastic surgeons at Star Plastic Surgery have completed the necessary residencies and fellowships in order to become the experts that they are. Cosmetic Surgery is all we do and our physicians pride themselves on concentrating on the individual they are working with. Before you decide to get plastic surgery done, please make sure that you are working with an ABPS board-certified plastic surgeon. Having the training and expertise to create the best possible outcome is more than just throwing on a mask and a white coat.

Please visit our website for a free consultation from one of our board-certified plastic surgeons: http://www.starplasticsurgery.net/contact-us or call us at 248-735-3800
