Why Tummy Tucks are Worth It

Many women com to Star Plastic Surgery for procedures. The reasons why are many, but most of these women explain that it has to do with two main factors: 1) Star’s well trained and highly skilled team of Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the wonderful results they produce.

Cosmetic surgery procedures are more affordable than ever. A study recently asked people who had undergone different cosmetic surgery procedures to rate how “worth it” the procedure was based on the cost. Well, it should come
as no surprise that the most popular procedures that we offer at Star topped the list of the most valuable procedures in the country.

At the top of the list was the Tummy Tuck procedure. If you’re looking to slim your waist while you get the flattest tummy and tightest skin possible, this is the procedure for you this holiday season or year-round.

Your Tummy Tuck will create a new abdominal profile by removing excess fat and skin, tightening, weakened and separated muscles, and restoring your youthful figure. Our surgeons use the most advanced surgical techniques, which may eliminate the need for drains and catheters, which are the most common cause of discomfort.

Remember, cosmetic surgery procedures are more affordable than ever and you deserve to treat yourself this holiday season. At Star, you’ll be able to take advantage of our 2 for 1 deal, in which you’ll get a completely free second procedure when you buy a procedure. Call today to set up your complimentary consultation or visit www.starplasticsurgery.net

Kaley Cuoco is a Big Fan of Plastic Surgery

We love Kaley Cuoco of The Big Bang Theory!!! What did Kaley have to say about Plastic Surgery?
"Years ago I had my nose done," Cuoco shared openly. "And my boobs -- best thing I ever did. Recently, I had a filler in a line in my neck I've had since I was 12. As much as you want to love your inner self... I'm sorry, you also want to look good."

Fox News reports that "Kaley Cuoco has nothing to hide when it comes to her past cosmetic surgery or the future of her love life."

"The Big Bang Theory" star recently sat down with Women's Health magazine for their December 2016 issue, where she got very candid about having plastic surgery throughout her career.

"Years ago I had my nose done," Cuoco shared openly. "And my boobs -- best thing I ever did. Recently, I had a filler in a line in my neck I've had since I was 12. As much as you want to love your inner self... I'm sorry, you also want to look good."

"I don't think you should do it for a man or anyone else," she added. "But if it makes you feel confident, that's amazing."

Kaley Cuoco

However, there's no cosmetic surgery needed when it comes to Cuoco's super fit physique. Her toned abs are a result of hard work, which she said also doubled as an outlet for her emotional distress following her split from ex-husband Ryan Sweeting last year.

"I've cried numerous times in yoga," she admitted. "The best part is, I'm sweating so bad no one can tell."

When she wasn't getting choked up during CorePower Yoga, Cuoco was spending her time on cathartic, therapeutic horse rides on her ranch in Simi Valley, California.

"For a month straight I would talk to my horse and just bawl," she recalled. "Finally, I went out and the crying didn't come. I was like, I think I actually got through this."

It was her love of horses and riding that led her on a seemingly-destined path to her current boyfriend, professional equestrian Karl Cook.

"Literally, we bumped arms at a horse show," she shared. "We each said, 'Oh, I'm sorry' -- and everything changed. I looked at him, and he looked at me."

Despite having questioned whether or not she would ever be able to love again after her divorce, Cuoco says her relationship has once again established her faith in "the sanctity of marriage," and she would "absolutely" consider tying the knot sometime in the near future. Furthermore, she's even thinking about the possibility of starting a family, explaining, "I'm meant to be a mom."

Is It Time for a Lift?

Mastopexy, otherwise known more popularly as breast lift, is one of the most common procedures at Star Plastic Surgery. The Breast Lift helps combat the droopy look of your breasts that comes with aging.

Deflated-looking breasts, due to pregnancy, breastfeeding and hereditary factors, will also be corrected with mastopexy at Star Plastic Surgery. If you want to have added volume, a silicone or saline implant can give you that added lift factor.

One of our board-certified plastic surgeons can assess which type of breast lift would be best suited for your specific needs. With minimal surgery time and a simple recovery plan, you too can reap the lifted benefits.

You'll feel much more confident in your favorite blouse, bra, t-shirt and especially a bathing suit. All will fit and feel better. Don't put off mastoexy (breast lift) any longer. The time is right for you and for this procedure to make your breasts look like they did when you were a teenager.

Schedule a complimentary consultation with myself of one of our board certified cosmetic surgeons today at Star Plastic Surgery in Novi, Michigan. Call (248) 735-3800 today or visit us on the web at our brand new website at www.starplasticsurgery.net.

Tips for Maintaining Your Cosmetic Surgery Results

Anyone who has cosmetic surgery wants to make sure their investment pays off.

Cosmetic surgery procedures at Star Plastic Surgery have very high patient satisfaction rates. Most patients are thrilled with their results for many years after surgery as well. Believe it or not, the surgeon isn't 100% responsible for your long term results.

You also have a responsibility in maintaining the long term results of your cosmetic surgery. You have to stay in shape, ensure healthy lifestyle habits and continue to take the advice of the doctor.

There are definitely some things you can do to successfully maintain your results for the months and years to come. Below, we present some recommendations:

Fitness and Exercise
Body contouring procedures can transform your curves, providing a more pleasing and proportionate look. While the results may seem magical, the look you see now can only last if you remain at a healthy weight. For instance, fat removal procedures such as liposuction will permanently rid you of targeted fat cells, but if you gain weight, you will see it in other areas as remaining fat cells expand. It’s even more important to keep your weight within a stable range if you’ve had a surgical lifting procedure (such as tummy tuck or body lift)—you’ll want to avoid stretching your skin again and nullifying the improvements you worked hard to achieve.

Sunscreen and Sun Protection
Immediately after your procedure, proper care makes a big difference in scarring. And as time goes by, great skin care will help your results look as good or better than ever. Scarring is a necessary aspect of many surgeries and while your surgeon will take care to place your incisions where they can be most easily hidden, making sure they heal optimally and fade nicely over time is partially in your hands. First, it is critical to follow any postoperative activity restrictions; these rules will help you avoid straining your scars, which could cause them to become wider or more visible. Secondly, be sure to protect your incisions in the sun by covering them or using sunscreen, keep the area clean, and use the topical scar care creams and ointments recommended by your doctor.

Healthy Lifestyle Habits
What you put in and on your body not only impacts your surgical results, it can make a huge difference in your overall health. We require patients to quit smoking tobacco for at least a few weeks before and after surgery. Nicotine greatly impacts your body’s ability to heal, resulting in prolonged recovery times and, potentially, complications that can lead to pain, bleeding, and more visible scarring. Excessive alcohol consumption is another pitfall you’ll want to avoid; there are a number of health drawbacks to overdoing it when it comes to drinking. Healthy eating habits are critical as well.

I'm glad you've made the wise investment of cosmetic surgery... now, it's important to remember that post-surgery you have a share in the continued success of your procedure.

Get That Flat Belly You've Dreamed Of

Women want a flat bellies of course. Who wouldn't? If you look at the cover of any magazine or see Hollywood celebrities, you know that they all have flat bellies. Even if it's not a "six pack," there isn't that flabbiness to it.

However, if you're like the vast majority of American adults, you are carrying more belly fat than you want in the abdominal region. Nobody wants that spare tire.

Many women, especially when a photo is being taken of them, hold their tummy in. They do this mostly unconsciously resulting in the appearance of a flatter abdomen. The reason most women hold their stomach in will never be identified other than this feat can be accomplished unconsciously to some degree without expending energy. Many women have done this so long that they don’t even realize they are doing this. Those of us who don’t hold our abdomen in will never think another human can achieve this! Why? Because it requires too much energy and effort!

Just because summer is winding down and you won't be wearing revealing bathing suits or tight shirts for a while, that doesn't mean it isn't time to get a tummy tuck from Dr. Reisin or another board certified cosmetic surgeon at Star Plastic Surgery. Call us today for a risk free consultation or visit www.starplasticsurgery.net.

Attention Female Athletes - Breast Reduction Can Improve Your Game

Breast surgery procedures are not only for cosmetic reasons. One of the most popular groups of women to undergo breast reconstruction is athletes. With the 2016 Rio Olympics currently taking place, women's sports is on everyone's minds. We're enjoying watching women athletes compete in gymnastics, tennis, track and field, basketball, soccer, volleyball and so many other exciting sports.

The size of the breasts is, unfortunately, a way that many women experience an additional challenge in competition. Additionally, having large breasts can lead to back aches or even worse.

Many women choose to get breast reductions with cosmetic surgery so they can run faster and perform better on the playing field. Some female athletes have experienced significant performance enhancement thanks to their breast reduction plastic surgery, including female soccer players, swimmers, basketball players and marathon runners. For many women, breast reduction surgery helps their body look better proportioned.

An added benefit for these female athletes is that they gain more self confidence and no longer have to worry about wearing two sports bras or having metal contraptions keep their breasts in place.

For women who don’t want the surgical approach to breast reduction surgery, nonsurgical breast reduction is also available. For a free consultation about breast reduction procedures visit our website at www.starplasticsurgery.net today.

Gift Cards for Plastic Surgery Dos and Don’ts

gift cards for plastic surgery
A recent trend has been giving out plastic surgery gift cards to loved ones. This may be a dangerous route for those of you who don’t know for sure that your significant other actually wants some work done. The last thing you want to do is completely offend them by giving a gift card for liposuction, when they didn’t think they needed it in the first place.

This is not a gift you want to be a complete surprise for the recipient, make sure they really want it and have mentioned it to you directly. Here are a few tips before you decide to go forward with this:
  •          Don’t suggest procedures.
  •          Ask around about procedures.
  •         Don’t ask when the recipient plans on using the gift.
  •          Make sure to mention that you love them just the way they are, but if they want a procedure done you would love to pay for it.

At Star Plastic Surgery, our doctors are dedicated to your satisfaction, and will help you determine which cosmetic plastic surgery procedures will best help you reach your goals. Please call 248-735-3800 or visit our website: www.starplasticsurgery.net/contact-us to make a free consultation.

Women: Are You Suffering with Breast Asymmetry?

Anxiety. Embarrassment. Depression. These are just some of the words that women who come see me use to describe how they feel about their breast asymmetry.

Size discrepancy between your breasts can be frustrating for many women. This is called breast asymmetry. Breast asymmetry is defined as a difference of form, position or volume of the breast, and it affects more than half of all women, so your daughter shouldn't feel alone. In fact, one study of 100 women who wanted breast augmentation with implants found that 88 percent had natural asymmetries. You should know first and foremost that every woman’s breasts have a certain degree of asymmetry, but for some women the size difference between the breasts may be more severe.  In cases in which the size difference between the left and right breast is larger than what is acceptable, it can be quite a challenge to find a bra that fits well. In fact, it might be impossible to find a good fitting bra, bikini or bathing suit.

These pieces of clothing will either be too big or too small on one side.  It’s not only finding the right sized bra that can be difficult for women with breast asymmetry. It can also be a cause for anxiety on a daily basis. For some women this problem can make someone so self conscious. Women who have been living with breast asymmetry for years are ready for a solution.

Surgical correction for breast asymmetry allows for an easy correction to the asymmetry and a solution for the patient’s psychological distress. Our team of board certified plastic surgeons at Star Plastic Surgery in Novi, Michigan are all highly skilled at correcting breast asymmetry. This can be achieved by a single procedure or a combination of procedures at one time or over a period of time.

Breast Enlargement on one side or both sides using different size implants, different fills, and different styles (high, moderate plus or moderate profiles) help correct volume differences between the breasts as well as projection differences that are due either to the breast itself or due to chest wall asymmetries or a combination of factors.  Breast size asymmetries due to volume are the most common form of asymmetries of the breast.

Breast Lift is used to reposition the breast when one breast is lower than the other and reduces the amount of skin surrounding the breasts.  Reducing skin either surgically or non-surgically corrects the differences between breasts that are due to breast position or skin.  Breast Reduction reduces the volume and skin on one or both breasts to make another option for women when the amount of skin and volume plays a role in the asymmetry.  Non-surgical tightening of the skin using heat may also be an option for patients when they are seeking a non-surgical solution to skin issues. Liposuction to the breast is another method to reduce volume without scars.

If you suffer from breast asymmetry or "bottoming out" of your breasts, do not hesitate to schedule a free consultation with me or any of the other board certified plastic surgeons at Star Plastic Surgery in Novi, Michigan. Visit us on the web at www.starplasticsurgery.net today.

Reduce Your Chances of Serious Drug Reactions

reduce chances of serious drug reactions
In recent years there has been an increase in genetic testing that can help avoid some of the serious drug reactions that take place throughout the United States every year. The tests that occur can determine how people might respond to common medications. These common medications can help some patients but harm others because some people absorb these drugs at a faster pace, while others process these at a slower rate.
Tiny differences in our genes that regular enzymes are the reason for this. Everyone is different and so are our bodies. The fact that everyone’s bodies absorb medications differently shows that everyone can be affected by anything differently. Take plastic surgery for instance, everyone’s bodies are different and they need to see a board certified plastic surgeon in person in order to get an understanding of what they really need.
Majority of hospitals are including information in patient records to help guide the doctor into choosing the most useful drugs and proper amount of dosages for patients moving forward. There is no recommended use, everyone is different and deserves to be evaluated in that way.
Star Plastic Surgery is your source for superior Michigan plastic surgery, focused on your safety, comfort, and satisfaction. Our board certified plastic surgeons are happy to meet with you during a free consultation to see what specific needs you have. Please call 248-735-3800 to schedule a free confidential consultation or visit our website www.starplasticsurgery.net

Viewable on both desktops, notebook computers and tablets, you'll now be able to watch a fully animated 3D video of each procedure offered at Star Plastic Surgery by our team of board certified plastic surgeons.

Why have we invested in this state-of-the-art video library? For patient education. We want our patients to be as well informed as possible before selecting the right cosmetic surgery procedure.

Our new Plastic Surgery Animation Library is endorsed by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. and has been medical board reviewed meaning that all animations are reviewed by a medical board of plastic surgeons for accuracy and authenticity. Additionally, our own Dr. Reisin has reviewed each video to ensure that it accurately represents our procedures and processes.

We hope you will appreciate Star Plastic Surgery's new 3D Animation Library of Cosmetic Surgery Procedures and share the link with your friends as well. View the full library here.

How to Get Natural Beauty From Foods

strawberry natural beauty from foods"Summer can be a lot easier for healthy eating, it lends itself to lighter foods," says dietitian and spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association Alana Macdonald. "In the winter months we tend to eat more potatoes and bread, relying more on stodgy comfort food when it's cold and rainy outside."

These are the foods that experts recommend are good to eat this summer:
natural beauty from foods summer 1.  . Strawberries – Jammed packed with vitamin C, strawberries have seeds on them which are a good source of fiber. This helps to prevent heart and cardiovascular problems that may occur.
2.    Tomatoes – Rich in beta-carotene and lycopene, which may reduce the effects of UV damage from the sun.
3.    Salad Leaves –In order to maintain healthy skin, we need vitamin A which fresh leaves produce. Salad leaves are a source of carotene, which is needed by the body in order to make vitamin A.
4.    Vegetables – Everyone knows that this is one of the healthiest choices but what some of you don’t know is that summer vegetables often have less carbohydrates and calories than typical winter vegetables such as carrots and potatoes.
5.    Cold Summer Salads – These summer salads should be made up of herbs, grains, and pulses. Wholegrains are rich in Vitamin B which boosts skin cell growth. This will help with fighting off any sun damage that may occur during these summer months.
6.    BBQ! – Everyone loves a good BBQ in the summertime and there’s no better way than firing up the old grill and tossing on some chicken with vegetables on a skewer. Subconsciously we tend to eat lighter in the spring and summer months to get into “bikini shape”.

If you are looking to improve your health and even alter your appearance, cosmetic surgery may be the way to go. For example, liposuction surgery can remove inches from your frame and provide a slimmer, more attractive physique, but it alone cannot help you maintain a healthy weight. The board certified plastic surgeons at Star Plastic Surgery can work with you to help determine what steps will be necessary after your procedure to help you lose weight and maximize the results of your liposuction surgery.

Trending Cosmetic Surgery Procedures

trending cosmetic surgery procedures
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) released its annual report which states the most popular cosmetic procedures as of late. Butt lifts have increased astronomically in the past 15 years with an increase of 252 percent. This could be related to the celebrity involvement of stars such as Nicki Minaj and Kim Kardashian, who have been known for their exteriors. “The ASPS calls 2015 a “year of the rear”; on average, there’s a buttock augmentation procedure performed every 30 minutes of every day,” (Wolfson, 2016).
From Kylie Jenner’s enlarged lips to Ariel Winters breast reduction, celebrities have been making plastic surgery news as of late. This has increased the level of interest in plastic surgery amongst young women. Along with these popular procedures, breast lifts have increased 89 percent in the past 15 years, which still makes it one of the most popular procedures in the United States.

Can You Still Breastfeed with Implants?

Many women have concerns about getting breast implants at an early age because they eventually want to breast feed once they have children. It is very important to know all of the facts surrounding any type of surgery. An overwhelming amount of women who have breast implants can breastfeed whether they decide to get silicone or saline implants.

star plastic surgery michigan breast implants

Over the year’s test have been conducted that have confirmed that there are no risks involving leaking in saline or silicone implants that result in contamination of breast milk. The key here is to have the least amount of pressure on a woman’s mammary gland as possible. The less pressure on the implant, the better the chances are for producing milk. It’s important to feel great about the way you look and even more so to feel comfortable with the procedure that you’re having done.

At Star Plastic Surgery, we assure that when you come to us for a breast augmentation consultation, you will be in the care of an experienced, dedicated, board-certified plastic surgeon.

During your initial consultation, you will be advised on all of your breast implant options and we will help you find the solution that helps you look and feel as beautiful as you deserve to be. Please contact us today on our website or call 248-735-3800.

Get Rid of Your Man Boob Problem this Father's Day

The weather is finally warming up in Michigan and that means swimming pools will open soon for Memorial Day weekend. Many families will be heading to the beach too. For so many women, this time of year means getting their bodies "bikini-ready" or just being prepared to put on a swim suit or shorts.

For many men, there can be some anxiety about just taking off their shirts in the summer time. They feel subconscious about their chests. Some men have what are commonly known as "Man Boobs." The medical name for this is Gynecomastia. What are Man Boobs?

Steven Tyler of Aerosmith has Man Boobs

Man Boobs are due to the excess growth of breast tissue, but it's really just excess fat, which has been collecting in abnormal amounts. This can be a source of embarrassment for men and even wearing a t-shirt or Lycra shirt at the pool or beach doesn’t help the anxiety that many men feel when they suffer from Man Boobs.

Men: Treat yourself this Father's Day to a male breast reduction surgery at Star Plastic Surgery. You'll begin to feel more confident about your overall appearance and will no longer get all anxious and concerned about taking off your shirt in public. If you aren't going to do this yourself, let the woman in your life make this your perfect Father’s Day gift this year.

Learn more about our male breast reduction surgery at Star Plastic Surgery's website or call for a free consultation today: (248) 735-3800.

Aging Gracefully WITH Plastic Surgery

Aging is natural. We all do it. In fact, you'll often hear people say that "Aging and getting some wrinkles is better than the alternative!"

Well, that's certainly true. It's definitely better to look a little older than to be six feet in the ground. But while it is true that as we age we develop wrinkles and begin to show our years, there are many ways that the combination of modern science and a skilled plastic surgeon can help you age better.

There's no reason to feel malcontent with our wrinkles, sagging breasts and bags under our eyes. In the 21st century, the medical science is so good that we can actually reverse some of the signs of aging.

It is natural for women’s bodies to develop different shapes after having children, but a well done tummy tuck can help get that pre-motherhood shape back. Additionally, following the cessation of breast feeding, many women find their breasts begin to sag, but breast enhancement procedures will bring a nice tight look back to your chest in a short period.

So many celebrities look beautiful into their later years. They have recognized that feeling great and looking vibrant can take a lot of work. In addition to eating healthy and exercising regularly, plastic surgery procedures will help you maintain that youthful look while you continue to collect those birthdays! Aging gracefully doesn't mean avoiding plastic surgery. It means being happy that you're continuing to live and be healthy, but you should still consider plastic surgery to help keep you looking young.

How Old Will You Look in the Future?

The “aging suit” is the newest in virtual reality technology, which allows you to get the full simulation of the growing old effect. The suit is called Genworth R70i Aging Experience, was created by a 62-year-old man named Bran Ferran who is the former president of research and development for Disney. This division created all of the “magic” at the theme parks and studios.

This special suit has bolts and hinges at every joint to give the aging effect more of a real life experience. The suit itself looks like some sort of superhero costume while “the helmet simulates impaired vision, hearing loss, and cognitive deterioration,” (Lidz,2015). While giving you insights on what it is to be old, you may start to reflect on how you actually look as well.

In today’s world, you may not be able to prevent feeling old, but you can control the aging process with plastic surgery. The High Price of Beauty

Several women revealed their annual costs of spending on what it takes to stay beautiful. Whether it is layers of makeup or extreme hair styles, women go to extreme lengths to better their appearance, no matter what the cost is. Prices tend to vary but getting a blowout hair cut can cost $40, a haircut can cost $125, and hair color can cost $215. Imagine paying this consistently throughout a lifetime with constant maintenance.

On the other side of the fence, the option for cosmetic surgery is available, which is long lasting and cost effective compared to most beauty enhancements such as makeup and other cosmetics. You May Want to Get Less Mammograms

The American Cancer Society recently issued new guidelines that women should get less mammograms done. “Women with an average risk of breast cancer start having mammograms at 45 and continue once a year until 54, then every other year for as long as they are healthy and likely to live another 10 years. The organization also said it no longer recommended clinical breast exams, in which doctors or nurses feel for lumps, for women of any age who have had no symptoms of abnormality in the breast,” (Grady,2015).
Specialist are working hard to find better screening test but this make take time as the area is rapidly changing. Radiologists hope to have more knowledge in the upcoming years that will allow them to be more personalized with their approaches. An important thing to remember with these screenings is that you feel comfortable and at ease. The patient’s feelings should be kept in mind by the doctors involved with any screening or medical testing.
The philosophy of Star Plastic Surgery is focused on the patient. We work one-on-one with you, both pre- and post-operatively, to help you reach your goals. We do not have a one-size-fits-all mentality, and will customize your procedure to enhance your natural appearance, and to help restore the self-confidence you deserve.
